SUMMARY:Exploring Art and Nature A 6-Week Series (Ages 6+ with a caregiver) – Fall Session
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a brand-new opportunity to learn in the Katie’s Krops Outdoor Classroom! This engaging program for children ages 6 and up (with a caregiver) will feature guest educator Cat Brantley from Sister Moon Studios, who will provide us with hands-on opportunities to explore connections between art and science.\nNature’s Canvas: Science Art Connections\nAn educational enrichment program that blends natural science, creative discovery, and art making.\n\nThis class series will run on Mondays from 10:00 – 11:00 am on the following dates: 9/22, 9/29, 10/6, 10/20, 10/27 &11/3.\nLed by professional teaching artist Cat Brantley of Sister Moon Studio ( https://www.sistermoonstudio.com/ ), students will create vibrant, mixed-media artwork inspired by animals, plants, life cycles, and other wonders of the natural world. Using a variety of materials like watercolor paints, pastels, fabric, and more, students will connect science concepts and traditional principles of art to build layered, textured works of art.  Each week, a new topic is introduced and we then create art inspired by the natural phenomenon, like the fibonacci sequence and then drawing snails using chalk pastels. Specific art elements are introduced based on the week’s project, as well as new mediums and art techniques. The goal is for students to create a lasting memory of the science concept and art technique through art infusion and a visual, hands-on art project and to build their creative problem solving skills.\nAll fees are non-refundable.\n
