4-H in the Garden – Tagging Monarch Butterflies
Join us for a very special visit from Dorchester County 4-H Youth Development Agent Molly Jones! Together, we’ll learn about tracking and tagging monarchs! Join us for an interactive lesson on monarch butterflies and learn the importance of tagging programs in correlation with monarch migration. Tagging programs are a citizen science effort to track the number of monarchs visiting an area. Scientists use the data we collect to determine the number of monarchs in a population. Help the monarchs by becoming an entomologist for a day!
While we love our gardening friends of all ages, attendance for this class is limited to children in kindergarten-5th grade. A chaperone must be present during class time.
Please include name(s) and age(s) of child(ren) in Additional Comments below.
