Dye it Blue with Old Santee Canal Park
Join us for a special visit from Old Santee Canal Park! Students will learn all about the history of indigo cultivation in South Carolina, including planting, processing and dyeing techniques. We will discuss why indigo was an important crop in the 1700s and what role it played in the history of our park. Each student will have a chance to dye a piece of fabric and take it home.
While we love our gardening friends of all ages, registration for this class is limited to children kindergarten-5th grade. A chaperone must be present during class time. Non-registered children may not attend.
$3 fee per class attendee via Venmo @KatiesKrops
For your safety and the safety of your children, completely closed shoes are required to visit the garden/classroom. We recommend athletic shoes. We cannot permit anyone to join us in flip-flops or sandals.
