On May 14th The Eclectic Chef and Katie’s Krops will partner to Help Prevent Hunger

The Eclectic Chef in Summerville and Katie’s Krops have joined forces to help prevent hunger in the Lowcountry. On Friday, May 14th the Eclectic Chef will be donating a portion of the receipts from the day to Katie’s Krops a not-for-profit organization started by the now 11 year old Summerville girl, Katie Stagliano,  who grows large scale vegetable gardens and donated the entire harvest to local soup kitchen and families in need in order to provide nutritious meals. To date she has donated thousands of pounds of healthy food to people in need in the Lowcountry.

The latest project started by Katie has been to grow a vegetable garden at The Palmetto House the only homeless shelter in Summerville that provides three meals a day to the shelter residents and anyone in need. Current and former residents of the shelter with help from Katie and her friends planted the garden and will continue to assist by weeding, watering and fertilizing. The harvest from the garden will feed people at the shelter. In order to protect the garden at Palmetto House a fence is needed. The event on the 14th will help fund not just a fence but fertilizer and everything needed to continue to grow Katie’s gardens.

In addition to delicious food the event will have live music for diners to enjoy at different times during  the day and door prizes for a lucky few who come to support the worthy cause. The Eclectic Chef is located at 125 Central Ave (on Short Central) in Summerville and offers indoor and outdoor dining as well as take out.

“I hope everyone will come eat at one of my very favorite restaurants on May 14th. By eating a delicious meal you will help to provide a healthy meal to someone in need. Please bring your friends for lunch, dinner or dessert, enjoy the music and you may even win a prize.  By eating at the Eclectic Chef on May 14th you will be supporting not just my gardens but you will also be supporting a great local business” Katie said.

The Eclectic Chef opens at 9:00 a.m.   We hope everyone will come out of May 14th and support this event.
