Garden Adventurers – The Great Pea Race – Ages 6+ with a caregiver
Join us for an exciting new exploration of garden topics this spring thanks to the generous support of the SC Botanical Garden. Each month we’ll gather to discuss a new topic, get our hands in the soil, and have the opportunity for a taste test.
February’s Topic – The Great Pea Race
Our third president, Thomas Jefferson, was also a farmer who loved to grow and eat peas. Every year he raced with his neighbors to have the first dish of English peas brought to the table. We know about this because Thomas Jefferson kept a garden journal in which he recorded all his garden tasks. As we go on this pea adventure we will learn more about peas, Thomas Jefferson, those enslaved on his property, and we’ll start a garden journal of our own.
