Matthew & Precious – Nurturing Wonders South Carolina

Matthew and Precious began gardening in 2020 with a simple goal: to involve their family in growing fresh food while teaching valuable life skills and encouraging time outdoors.

Today, their garden is part of Nurturing Wonders, the nature school founded by Precious, where gardening has become an integral part of the children’s daily learning experience. When she’s not tending the garden, Precious enjoys organizing classrooms, developing lesson plans, and exploring nature alongside her students. In 2026, Nurturing Wonders joined the Katie’s Krops growing family through a partnership with Big Green.

Some of their favorite crops are blackberries and blueberries, which often become a quick snack while working in the garden. They also love growing tomatoes, experimenting with different varieties to compare growth, flavor, and performance—because science makes gardening even more fun! Squash and zucchini have become an exciting challenge, growing at an incredible pace and producing impressive harvests that never fail to amaze.

The students at Nurturing Wonders, ages 3 to 10, are actively involved in every stage of the gardening process. Together, they plant seeds, fill raised beds with soil, measure and record plant growth, water, weed, remove harmful insects, harvest produce, and collect garden data. Each child has their own pair of gardening gloves and eagerly joins in whenever they see Precious heading to the garden with her bucket of supplies.

By spending a little time in the garden each day, these young gardeners are discovering where food comes from, building confidence through hands-on learning, and developing a love for growing and giving back. Every day brings a new opportunity to learn, explore, and share the harvest with others.
