Fighting For
A More Generous
World.

The idea for Katie’s Krops began with a 9-year-old girl and a 40 pound cabbage. In 2008 Katie brought home a tiny cabbage seedling from school as part of the Bonnie Plants Third Grade Cabbage Program. She tended to her cabbage and cared for it until it grew to an amazing 40 pounds. Knowing her cabbage was special, she donated to a soup kitchen where it helped feed over 275 people. Moved by the experience of seeing how many people could benefit from the donation of fresh produce to soup kitchens, Katie decided to start vegetable gardens and donate the harvest to help feed people in need.

Our amazing Master Gardener, Mrs. Lisa, is sharing her top three spring gardening tips to help you grow a successful and thriving garden this season! 🌸🌱1️⃣ Start early!
Pulling old plants, weeding, amending soil, and repairing beds should all be done well before planting time—just in case spring arrives early!2️⃣ Plant DEEP!
Leggy plants like tomatoes will thrive when planted up to their first set of leaves, helping them develop a stronger, more established root system.3️⃣ Know your zone & plant ON TIME!
The summer heat is no joke! It’s important for plants to be well-established before temperatures rise. Here in the Lowcountry, we’re in Zone 8B—timing is everything.Happy spring planting—wishing you a season full of growth, abundance, and a thriving garden!

Volunteers will direct you to a parking spot, hold your place in line, and allow non–Katie’s Krops guests to pass through without disruption. Please roll down your window or open your car door (if your window does not open) so volunteers can communicate with you easily.Dinner guest vehicles are parked in several areas of the church lot, and clear communication is essential to keep everyone safe—especially with families and children crossing the parking lot and drive-thru traffic. To help the line move smoothly, we kindly ask that you clear space in your car before arriving so meals can be placed inside quickly. If you would like your meals bagged, please bring a large reusable grocery bag, and we will gladly bag them for you.
